There are very few things that would make me shell out for a flight from Argentina (where I will now be until November)....this just happens to be one of them. All I can say is that there better be some pretty crazy shit going down or someone is going to get their ass kicked. BTW. Megan is way hot.
Doug Hoffman will be attending and he will be bringing his wife Tracy as his guest. He will be towing his redneck house behind him because he is too old to sleep on the ground in a tent. Not sure about the little chitlins right now, but most likely we will have them in tow also. There are four of them.
So sorry that we won't be able to make it to the wedding! Sounds it will be quite an occassion. Best of luck to you both and we'll think of you on your special day. You picked a great month...we celebrate our 49th Anniversary on the 26th...taking a cruise to Alaska on the 30th!! Roger and Jeanne Bray
Gheesh Butch! I don't know what to say. The last time I saw you I think you and Jeff were rolling around on the ground giving each other bloody noses. Sounds like a wonderful event, unfortunately, medical problems prohibit me from travelling just now. I wish you two the best of everything!! Kathie Alfstad
Hey, We love you both sooooo much that we will be there too! Cause if we didn't love you both so much, we'd go away during that weekend so we could avoid setting up and picking up!!! Yes Dad and I WILL happily be there (or here).
Matt and Katie will be there...kid free. I think that means we might get drunk. And I appologize in advance to all the men if my husband tries to make out with you, it's just his thing.
I'll be there plus Lily. Super pumped! More pumped than all the protein shakes I just gulped down my throat leaving a bunch of liquid on my shirt just because I can't stop I feel so good!
This is a great site. It may not be Common, but it has a Wealth of information about your Virgnia wedding. I am excited about staying in Virginia's second largest region.
Your favorite sister will be there...without her husband. Maybe a cardboard cut out passed out in a tent will be the same thing? I can't comment on the camping thing and you know why.
Jess is coming and apologizes for the belated reply. But it's not like you guys didn't know she was coming. She also apologizes for the lack of Commonwealth-based puns in her reply.
Dear Megan and Butch, Sorry we are unable to attend. Thank you for inviting us, it sounds like a great time! We wish you the best!!!! Fran and Gary Klein
Sorry for the late r.s.v.p. I am super stoked to go. I will be there, in all of my camping glory, but Nilo can't make it (school;I'll keep working on him). Can't wait to see you guys! -Ariana
I'll be there! Excited for the pulled pork, and the love. I assume I'm not the only person coming down from DC -- could you let me know if there's nayone else who'd want to carpool?
Hey Butch and Megan! I can not apologize enough for responding so late. Our lives were turned upside down after Derek's diagnosis. Things are slowly returning to normal. That being said, I am coming to the wedding!! Derek and the boys are not able to make it because they start school on the 24th. Butch, I am looking so forward to seeing you and Megan, I am looking forward to meeting you! Thank you for inviting us.
So sorry for responding so late, but unfortunately John and I are unable to attend, but thanks for inviting us. We hate to miss another chance to celebrate a wedding with your family and it sounds like great fun. --John & Gerri Gonzalez

Gary Long shall be attending, Gary will be bringing his beautiful daughter, who is nearly as cute as Gary, for her first camping excursion. No need to thank us for our presence. A reverent salute will suffice. Congrats you crazy kids.
Hello Butch and Megan, Cindy and Drew Finley here. Sorry to say that we will not be able to attend. It sounds like it will be a great event and knowing the Hoffmans, we're sure it will be. We'll be at another wedding that same day doing wedding photography. Have fun and congratulations. www.finleyphotography.com
Hello Butch and Megan. Craig Helfrick here. With great regret I cannot attend the wedding. Had some issues here at home that screwed up my plans. Love you and the family and I know I will be missing a great time. Congrats and have a fantastic day. Hope to see soon.
It's true! Butch! and Megan are getting hitched, and we'd love you to celebrate with us!
WHERE: 4731 North Waterside Drive, Lanexa, VA
WHEN: August 29th, 2009 at 5:30 p.m., with reception immediately afterward.
WHAT: A bluegrass wedding, complete with bluegrass music and great barbecue. Wear comfortable shoes and come ready to dance!
1. Where is Lanexa, Virginia? A: Lanexa, Virginia is a small, rural town in New Kent County, VA, and is situated about 20 minutes west of Williamsburg and 30 minutes east of Richmond. George and Martha Washington were married in New Kent County.
2. That's great about George and Martha, but really -- WHY are you getting married there? A: Lanexa is the home of Hal and Kathy Hoffman, Butch!'s parents. They have graciously agreed to let us use their pasture as the site of our wedding, which means we don't have to rent a hall and therefore have more money to spend on barbecue and beer.
3. Won't it be hot? What should I wear? A: It probably won't be that hot, but it's possible. The wedding will be held in the evening. Evening temperatures in late August in Virginia average in the mid-70's. See our post about attire.
4. Why aren't you registered for gifts? A: We decided not to register for gifts because Megan is joining the Air Force in October. We do not yet know where she will be stationed after she completes her training, which will happen early next year. Because we will likely be moving two or three times within the next six to nine months, we are currently in the process of getting rid of a substantial part of our belongings. We felt it didn't make sense to acquire any more things at the moment.
5. It says on this blog that you're having a bluegrass wedding. What does that mean? A: A bluegrass wedding means a good bluegrass band, lots of beer, some excellent pulled pork, and fun. We chose a bluegrass theme because we want our guests to relax, dance, have fun, and experience Virginia as it should be.
6. Can I wear coveralls and a straw hat to your wedding? A: If you really want to, yes.
7. What else is there to do in Lanexa? A: We will cover this in a separate post, but Lanexa is very close to colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens, both of which entertained Megan as a child. King's Dominion amusement park and Water Country USA are also nearby. Lanexa is also close to the Williamsburg Winery and the New Kent Winery, both of which offer excellent, low-cost tours and tastings. Finally, historic Richmond is only 30 minutes away, and tours of the very beautiful capitol building are free.
8. Are you having bridesmaids or groomsmen? A: To keep the expense and the 'serious' factor of the wedding as low as possible, we opted not to have a wedding party.
9. How did you two meet? A: We both attended Georgetown University Law Center. We graduated last May.
10. Oh God, two lawyers getting married! Your evenings must be as exciting as watching paint dry. A: We get that a lot.
I'm so there. So is Emily. (Aaron Lawrence & Emily Camastra)
